History:
The Gadigal people of the Eora Nation are the original inhabitants of the land where Marrickville is located. Vanity Group was officially founded in 2011 by CEO Paul Tsalikis, with its beginnings dating back to 1980.
Community profile:
Vanity Group has established itself as a leader in its field by connecting hotels to luxury beauty brands and redefining the hotel amenities. The company purposefully creates premium designer amenities that are meaningful and reflect a hotels personality, surrounding and taste ensuring and unforgettable user experience.
Design resolution:
In 2013, the Vanity Group appointed Shakeup Architecture to design a brand-new headquarters at Meeks Road, Marrickville. This adaptive reuse project involved the conversion of an old factory building to accommodate the new facilities.
A productive office layout has been proposed with plants incorporated to generate a healthy working environment. The building entry features a double storey height space and a modern linear stair. Recycled materials and smart use of colours are found throughout the project.
